Converting 3D content to X3D

Vivaty is a web-based virtual world platform that is built entirely on open standards. We are only part-way through the large task of opening our platform to more creators.

We got a lot of questions about how to create 3D content for Vivaty. Do we have to use Vivaty Studio? How is the export/import done? How would an avatar look in my scene? We’re here to help.

Converting 3D content from programs like 3D Studio Max, Maya, Blender, Milkshape, Google Sketchup, and other programs is fairly straightforward. You can output a COLLADA (.dae), X3D, VRML, .dxf, s3d, and many other 3D file formats into Vivaty Studio, save as an X3D file, and eventually integrate them into Vivaty all over the web.

Vivaty Studio is both an authoring and publishing tool and it’s conveniently based on open-standards (X3D). To read more about the X3D spec, go to www.web3d.org.
