Vivaty Create: What Developers Want
Vivaty Create is just in its early stages but our vision is very broad and big. We want to take the innovation that’s flourished for years across several industries and in many home offices in all corners of the earth – and bring it to millions of consumers on the Web.
Just because our name has changed doesn’t mean we don’t want (and need) to hear from you! Yes, we are focusing on a consumer-focused platform that will eventually touch as many people as possible on the web, but this doesn’t mean we don’t care about the more business and education-focused uses of this powerful technology. So we hope you continue to send us your thoughts.
We asked the 3D development community what they wanted in a platform. How should Vivaty evolve to include more creators of all types? Thanks to Viveka Weiley, Brian Root, Scott Monsma, Peter Stromberg, Charles Middaugh, Wallace Jackson, Carmen Villadar, Bruce Lehmann, Whystler, John Smith, Chris Burrows, Donza3D, Jose Kozan, Jordi Cardona, Damon Hernandez, Lilith Heart, Len Bullard, and many others who have emailed us your suggestions, critiques, and wish lists!
Here’s what we heard. If you want to join the conversation, find us on Twitter, read our blog, post on Get Satisfaction, or participate in our long-standing forums.

Here’s what we heard from you:
You want to make Cash
Who doesn’t!? For professional developers like Cassiopeia, who already are well-known in other virtual communities, we completely understand. We don’t have an economy yet but we hope to get you involved early so you’re benefiting as soon as we do.
Most people in our survey told us they don’t create 3D content for cash, they do it for fun and to share their content with friends. Check out our gallery, upload your stuff, and we’ll eventually launch user-created content into Vivaty Scenes, our live product.
You want support for Vivaty Studio
We believe there may have been some bugs in Vivaty Studio related to the Preview function so we took another look and we re-released the installer here. We are still improving this tool, since we use it every day in our own art studio. We may not be adding all the bells and whistles that you want or need for your specific industries, but we have to start somewhere.
You want to use an avatar in your scenes
This was a great one. You want to move around with an avatar in your newly-created scene. We hope to post some sample avatar code soon so you can get an idea of how to make your finishing touches on scenes.
You want to show your stuff to others, not just us!
It makes sense, you want to see your stuff and pass it around to your friends. We know you really want to upload straight into the live product, but our tools are not quite there yet. So in the meantime, we’ve redone our Gallery. Check out lots of 3D content, then add your own!
You want a Mac port!
Yes, even developers want it. We hear you and we want it too. We like many other virtual worlds have many layers of technology to port and we are addressing these. When we do announce a date, we want to be sure we can deliver a high-quality experience. Thanks for your patience on this and please don't give up on us in the meantime.
You like our submission terms
According to Jordi of Hiperia3D and a few others, our submission terms are good because they let you keep rights to your creations, and just give us the right to distribute them.
In Jordi’s words, “Specifying that they give you a non-exclusive right is perfect, I think they will like it. People want to keep their rights and be able to send their models to other services or reuse them in their own creations. So congratulations, it looks very good.” Read more about our terms here.
You want more help on importing/exporting
Most people still don’t realize you can import any .dae (COLLADA) file right into Vivaty Studio, save it as an X3D file, and then (eventually) publish it into Vivaty Scenes. We actually have a lot of importer tools built right into Vivaty Studio – heck, even Accutrans support is in there.
To make it easier to show off your stuff, even while it's still in Max, Maya, Blender or other modeling tools, you can now upload your stuff or email it to vivatycreate@vivaty.com. If you want help with exporting/importing, let us know at developers@vivaty.com.
You want a community
We have our forums from the old days that are still active and waiting for you. As we figure out what we’re going to build on vivaty.com, feel free to hang out here and talk to us (we promise to be more present!). If you want to show off your content, post it to the Gallery.
